A Houston man who stomped a co-worker to death for losing his car keys last May was convicted in a Dallas courtroom Wednesday.

Martin Gutierrez Jr., 41, was found guilty of murder in the May 30 death of Cesar Martinez-Zamarripa at the Delux Inn in Carrollton.

The fight began as Gutierrez, Zamarripa and two other men went to Pandora’s Men’s Club in northwest Dallas, police records show. The men were in the area to work on a construction project together.

On their way out of the strip club, Zamarripa couldn’t find his keys and accused Gutierrez of losing them. The four took a cab back to the motel, where Gutierrez and Zamarripa continued arguing before coming to blows outside of their rooms.
