Murder suspect’s mud-covered Audi smelled of ‘decayed flesh,’ Richardson police say Naheed Rajwani
Authorities looking for a Mississippi woman missing since Mother’s Day found blood, a bullet hole and muddy boots in the garage of her boyfriend’s apartment in Richardson, court records say.
Detectives searching Jason Michael Lowe’s house also noticed the “distinct smell of decayed flesh” in his garage, his arrest warrant affidavit says.
Lowe, 27, is charged with the death of his 27-year-old girlfriend Jessie Bardwell.
Bardwell moved to Richardson after Christmas to live with Lowe, news reports say. Police believe Bardwell was killed between April 29, the last time she was seen alive, and May 9, when she was reported missing.
A neighbor told police she saw Lowe standing in the bed of a Dodge pickup on May 7, making loud sounds “consistent with cleaning.” He was also seen removing trash bags from a box, court records say.
Police allege in court documents that Lowe killed Bardwell and tried to hide her body, which has not been found.
Bardwell’s relatives became concerned about her well-being on Mother’s Day because she didn’t call her stepfather and stepmother, who live in her hometown of Pascagoula, Miss.
