A man suspected in a fatal shooting Saturday was taken into custody Sunday night by the Dallas Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives said Rodney Keeton, 28, fled from the scene of the shooting that occurred about 11:30 p.m. in the 610 block of Geller Road, near Wilmer, said spokeswoman Carmen Castro.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Castro said.

Keeton’s vehicle was later found off Edd Road and Highway 175 in Rylie.

A Dallas police officer was arrested in Highland Park Sunday for driving drunk and trying to flee by foot.

Officer Aaron Rodarte is charged with driving while intoxicated and evading on foot, according to a Dallas Police Department news release. He has been placed on administrative leave and the Dallas Police Department will conduct an internal investigation.

Dallas police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was found slain in her Far North Dallas apartment Friday afternoon.

The woman, identified Saturday as Ericka Mong, died of an apparent gunshot wound, police spokeswoman Tramese Andrews said in an email.

One person has died after an 18-wheeler cab jumped a guard rail on Interstate 45 on Thursday night and plummeted to the ground below, Dallas police said.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. on I-45 and Overton Road in Oak Cliff, shutting down all but one lane on the northbound side of the highway, according to Dallas police. Police haven’t said yet whether the person who died was the driver or someone hit by the falling cab.
