Christi Howell is being held on $250,000 bail.

A Kaufman County woman is in custody after she was accused of waterboarding a child and binding his genitals as punishment.

Christi Howell, 40, is also accused of beating the boy, who is younger than 14 and mentally disabled, according to jail records.

Howell was arrested last week and is being held in the Kaufman County Jail on a charge of injury to a child.

Police are looking for Howell’s 45-year-old boyfriend, Casey Shackleford, who is accused of participating in the abuse. He was convicted last year of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
