A Richardson man was sentenced Friday to five years in federal prison in San Antonio for plotting to kill his uncle’s estranged wife, federal officials said.

A jury in April convicted Leonard Roundtree III, a former high school football standout, of one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Roundtree’s uncle, Alvin Roundtree, 52, shot his common-law wife, Mona McFadden, in June 2013 with a .45 caliber handgun at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, federal officials said.
