Staff writer Elvia Limón reports:
A drunken driver pleaded guilty Tuesday in a wrong-way crash that killed a Garland police and fire dispatcher and left her daughter lying “face down with her toes up” on LBJ Freeway last spring.
Luis Angel Rodriguez, 26, appeared in a Dallas courtroom, where he’ll be sentenced on a charge of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of reckless injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
Crystal Nuncio, 28, was killed in the May 16 crash that also injured her 9-month-old son and 10-year-old daughter, Ally.
A prosecutor said Tuesday that the girl was ejected from the family’s vehicle and ended up lying in an HOV lane, her body contorted unnaturally.
“She was face down with her toes up because she had been thrown out,” prosecuting attorney Cresta Garland told jurors.
