Dallas police chief frustrated that British sailors who injured cop in bar brawl are home scot-free Robert Wilonsky
The three British Royal Navy sailors accused of assaulting a Dallas police officer during an Uptown scuffle have been given their passports and allowed to leave Dallas. And they will never have to return.
Court documents reveal, and their attorney confirms, that Christopher Casey, Christopher Hickman and Callum Duncan were no-billed by a Dallas County grand jury last week, which means they were not indicted for the crime of assaulting Senior Cpl. Gerardo Huante early the morning of Feb. 13 outside the Concrete Cowboy.
Dallas’ chief of police is not pleased.
“That’s very disappointing,” said Dallas Police Chief David Brown Friday. “It’s pretty extraordinary. Maybe the facts presented to the grand jury were different than the facts we know. But he was in uniform, gets kicked and beaten and doesn’t get indicted? That’s hard to accept.”
The grand jury heard the case on March 9. The next morning, the three men went to court to collect their passports, said Dallas attorney Vickers Cunningham. That night, they were on a plane home.
“The sailors are very pleased to go home,” Cunningham said Friday, “and humbled by the process.” … [visit site to read more]
