There has been a second guilty plea in connection with Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price’s federal public-corruption case.

According to court documents filed today, art dealer Karen Manning has pleaded guilty to one count of tax fraud related to the sale of artwork that belonged to Price. She admits to leaving about $250,000 in gross income off tax returns from 2007 through 2010, most of that tied to the sale of art that came from Price’s personal collection.

Manning is a close associate of Price’s and the one-time owner of the Millennium 2000, an African-art gallery that operated out of the South Side of Lamar until 2012. The gallery is mentioned in the feds’ 2011 search warrant, though Manning wasn’t named in the July 2014 indictment that includes Price, Price’s assistant Dapheny Fain, political consultant and Kathy Nealy and business consultant Christian Campbell, who today pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy to commit bribery.

Campbell has also agreed to testify against Price.

Federal authorities have alleged that Price and Manning used the sale of African art through her business to launder money. … [visit site to read more]
